What the heck was (Elliot Spitzer/Larry Craig/Bill Clinton/Etc) thinking?

The Spitzer/prostitute scandal has a me wondering what on earth are these men thinking when they risk their careers, families and reputations just for the fleeting pleasure of illicit . This guy had it all! Surely he must have known that there were risks involved. My son thinks he wanted to get caught, subconsciously. One of my coworkers says that some people get to a level of power where they really believe they're above the law. I honestly don't know what to believe.What do you think?
