New sand in my tank help!?

I have a well established discus barebottom tank and decided to put sand today. I used Sakrete play sand natural something I got from home depot. I started the filter knowing that the sand had settled in. My question is, I can put back in my discus now eventhougj it is still cloudy? By the way is silica sand the whitest sand I can use because this sakrete is a bit brownish.
