When did you wean your baby and how?

my bub is 6 months old on the 3oth and i was wondering how everyone does this whole weaning thing? he is watching us all like hawkes when we eat, but after 5 months wrought with really bad colic and no sleep, he now is sleeping after every feed, so is the sign for him when he stays awake after a feed? cause the actual 'when'is hard for me to gauge, i only seem to have the option of before a feed, which google is telling me is back to front! Help! Thank you :)
