Quoting in an essay.........?

I'm writing an essay for school. If I wanted to quote Ghandi for his saying "an eye for an eye leaves the world blind", do I have to say his name in my essay or can I just put it in quotes? Thanks! Also, the essay doesn't relate to Ghandi, but his quote ties in to what I'm saying.
