What / Who is God to you ?

I don't spend any time trying to define God. I don't know about heaven or hell, but I've decided to have a belief system. It isn't right or wrong; it is what I have chosen. I believe God is a universal consciousness. I believe we are all part of her and she is us. I believe when we die, we survive only as part of the universe of souls that have gone before us. I believe organized religions are one of the greatest travesties foisted upon the world. When Lenin said that "religion is the opiate of the mes", consider the real meaning of that. The poor and the enslaved and the downtrodden throughout Christian history have been taught to endure life for the reward after death. The only hope the slaves of the U.S. had was freedom after death. I believe there is a power greater than me in the world and I choose to call that power God, but what we have done with the God-idea is horrid. We use God to condemn people whose life-styles offend us; we use God to justify killings and wars; we use God to exert control over the personal decisions of others and we use God in the United States to justify politics. We believe we can do anything we wish and it all becomes magically ok by asking God to forgive us. God is wonderful but religion is a hypocritical nightmare. And-I fully realize God may not exist in any form. I prefer to believe in her but that doesn't mean I believe I am correct.
