Atheists, Im curious....?
well done, monkey. i respect you for your humility and honesty. well done. we could take it even further and ask what basis exists for value and meaning. when we do that, we have to (if honest) admit that there is no basis for meaning and value beyond what we ign. once we do that, then we have to ask the question, who gets to decide? but i think you touched on that one. in this scenario, one matrix is as good as any other. we are left with rationalism, pragmatism, or naturalism. and, as you know, each of these has its problems in explaining why there should be any meaning or value to anything. the logical extension of atheism is that life can have no ultimate meaning. but life is obviously filled with so much meaning. thus, the atheist cannot live consistently within his or her own world view. no dis intended to any atheists reading this post. i do have a healthy respect for science and humanity's achievements in the field of science. i also recognize there are far too many people calling themselves christians who do not live consistently within their own worldview. it's just that, after reading some of the "answers" posted, i crapped my self and realized i had to say something. @ the singularity guy: from what i've read on the subject, the theory still cannot adequately explain where matter came from. if i'm missing something, maybe you can explain on another post?
