As an individual how can we help our country the Philippines literally?

This question comes to mind when I read one of the guys in the forum answering my questionnaire recently. He said 'change starts with the people not with the leader'…which I beg to disagree. That is why we are called follows of the leader so that we can look upon these leader to be an excellent example of how we should do things, isn't this right? If we have a lousy leader do you think we will be inspired as a people of the country? I think not. Ngawa ng ngawa wala naman ginagawa which is again quite true, so what do you think we should be all doing anyway instead of answering and giving question here at the Yahoo forum. Any suggestion? The one who gave that words should be an example isn't it? So where is this guy coming from? Is he a management executive for urban poor and country living? I don't think so. Mareklamo nga ba tayong mga Filipino as a whole? Yes we are, I think the guy who said this is also a complainant one way or another. We are all humans. The sun is hot or the wind is cold we do complain because we are affected by it. If our economy is good and running do you think we as a person would complained about it? I doubt if we still do. As what JFK said "asked not what your country can do for you, but asked what you can do for your country". So how do we, without pen and paper, help our country in the least little way we know. I do not think our country, the Philippines will see the rays of the new sun or progress like the rest of the Asian countries. I gave up with the Philippines long time ago. If compared to a person the Philippines, it is bed ridden all his life together with so much tube attached to his body and diagnose with cancer. So as a Filipino what things should we be doing at this time for the country?
